The Division of Facilities Development selected SDS Architects to provide design services for a housing replacement project at the St. Croix Correctional Center, in New Richmond, Wisconsin. The two-story addition replaced housing for 36 inmates and provides new educational spaces including classrooms, a computer lab, a library/multi-purpose room and group rooms - as well as much-needed holding cells and an emergency shelter. One of the existing temporary modular structures was razed upon completion of the new addition.
The addition adds to the center which houses administrative and staff offices, inmate dormitories, food services, a combined dining hall /gymnasium, laundry, and general support services. Separate dormitories are for males and females.
