To accommodate the need for a larger and handicapped-accessible social hall and additional office space, the Lake Street United Methodist Church pursued an expansion project that resulted in a 14,000 square foot addition. Along with the social hall and offices, the building expansion included a new preparation kitchen, meeting room, accessible restrooms, future choir practice rooms and storage.
The addition also provides a new off-street entrance to serve the new social hall and the existing church and adjacent educational unit. The new entrance features a porte-cochere and a new sky-lit vestibule that accommodates people accessing the church and educational unit as well as the new social hall.
Exterior brick and stone were carefully selected to complement the exterior materials of the historically-significant original church.
