The Elk Mound School District responded to space and facility needs and an increase in enrollment through a facilities referendum that passed in April 2009. The projects included additions and remodeling at Mound View Elementary School, Elk Mound Middle School, and Elk Mound High School. The referendum was passed by evaluating the needs of the district and responding to community input.
Projects at the elementary school included eight new classrooms, energy efficient lighting upgrades, a new multi-purpose/cafeteria/kitchen area, and increased visibility at the main entrance.
The middle school featured six new classrooms, a new conference room, mechanical room, and mechanical upgrades to increase energy efficiency.
Projects at the high school included a new multi-purpose cafeteria/kitchen addition, upgrades to electrical and data systems, remodeled science classrooms and science labs in place of an outdated cafeteria area, and a secure centrally-located main entry and office area.
