Faced with needs that included more space for expanding Health Occupations programs, the rearrangement of programs for greater efficiency, and building, mechanical, and electrical system upgrades, the Nicolet Area Technical College (NATC) implemented expansion and remodeling project at the Tamarack Center and the Art Tech Center building.
The Tamarack Center project included the addition of 7,500 square feet and remodeling of approximately 18,000 square feet of space. The Art Tech Center involved remodeling approximately 17,000 square feet. The types of spaces developed in the building and remodeling program included general classrooms, nursing labs, mock-up exam rooms, and human patient simulator rooms serving the Health Occupations programs. Other spaces include 2D and 3D art studios, CAD labs, site survey lab, graphic design lab, offices, and conference rooms.
By working closely with campus administration, SDS met a key challenge that involved developing the scope of the project to stay within State statutory spending limits for new construction, remodeling and capital improvements.
All construction was completed during summer break schedule. This was accomplished by taking bids in January which allowed contractors to obtain materials and equipment prior to the actual summer construction.
