SDS Completes First Phase of Aggressively Scheduled Project
The Village chose to work with SDS Architects on the project which has gone ahead in two phases. The first phase is complete and the second phase (Public Works and Parks and Recreation) is underway now and should be complete in March. After the police department moved into their new space the local newspaper covered the story. The new police chief was interviewed and an excerpt of the article by Tristan McGough follows:
Interim Police Chief Bob Roberts was asked to give his take on the transition taking place, given that not only is a new facility being remodeled to meet the departmental needs of law enforcement, but a brand new police department was sworn in and is now fully operational.
“I have been involved in eight build-outs and transitions for municipalities, and this is the smoothest process I’ve ever been part of,” Roberts said. “The board members and staff who planned this transition should be given a lot of credit for how thorough they were in planning, especially with the accelerated schedule you had to go by. The planners did a great job in identifying what items the police needed and ensuring an expedited, relatively easy move.”
Lemay asked Roberts to give his impression of how well this process was going as a whole, including the construction budget, when compared to Roberts’ other transition projects.
