SDS Architects Awarded UW-Eau Claire Facility Design Project
SDS Architects was recently awarded an addition and renovation design project on the UW-Eau Claire campus by the Wisconsin Division of Facilities Development and Management. The project will include removing an existing two-level connection between residence hall towers at Governors Hall and will reconstruct a connection spanning from the basement to the fourth floor and which will connect the towers at each floor.
The project will also include the addition of an elevator and significantly renovated restrooms for ADA compliance. The restroom renovation will also allow for increased privacy. An overall update of finishes throughout the facility will significantly enhance student living.
Governors Hall is an upper campus co-ed residence hall named in honor of past, present and future Governors. The original facility was built in 1962 and the current capacity is 342 residents.
Design work will begin this fall and construction is planned to begin during the spring of 2020 with completion in time for the 2021-22 academic year.
SDS Architects of Eau Claire has significant post-secondary educational design experience having recently worked on numerous projects at UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stout, UW-La Crosse, and UW-Stevens Point, as well as various Chippewa Valley Technical College campuses.
