Governmental and municipal agencies often have specialized facility needs. Remodeling, additions, and
new construction projects need to balance priorities of safety, comfort, wayfinding, and durability --
possibly even including elements of historic significance, all at what the public would consider to be a
reasonable cost. Project staging, communication with the public, and sound project management all
have more pronounced importance with government projects, and SDS has vast experience in working
with government bodies and agencies to create successful facilities.
Governmental projects could include anything from small additions to significant renovations to entirely new construction of a variety of project types, including recreation centers and community halls, offices, transportation facilities, public safety facilities, jails and prisons, and other public facilities.
This is another market type where architects can be contracted on an “on call” basis, and having a longer-term contractual relationship between Owners and Architects significantly helps master planning and facility planning efforts to bear fruit.
